Building industry is starting to grow and, being the basis unprecedented low, growth is of a two-digit rate. Main drivers are state orders and reconstructions subsided also by the EU, thus, streets and squares of Budapest and larger cities could be refurbished, and also insulation works of high buildings in large residential areas are in slow progress. However, the private segment and the population are still inactive. Between buildings on the banks of the Danube, there are gaps and skeleton buildings.
This would mean an excellent tail-wind for the plastics industry. As a positive phenomenon, erection of production halls and warehouses continues in companies of excellent results.
In 2013, production of plastic products for the building industry – manufactured by 80 companies – had a ratio of 17% in the total plastics processing, the same as in 2012, while in Europe, this figure was 20.5%. 135,100 tons of materials were processed.
The sector shows precautious optimism, company managers work on preparation of new projects, and we hope that next year, sector figures will confirm the positive expectations.
