Fakuma 2014 – the Future of Plastics Processing

It's plainly apparent that manufacturers and distributors of technologies, products, systems, peripherals and complete solutions, who are active within a broad range of industrial plastics processing, consider Fakuma a "must" as a highly practical industry meet with international character. With more than 1700 exhibitors from 35 countries around the globe and a fully occupied exhibition centre in Friedrichshafen, Fakuma indisputably holds second place in the worldwide rankings after the international plastics exhibition in Düsseldorf, which is also held in Germany. However, emphasis is clearly placed on plastics processing at Fakuma, thus providing it with thematic differentiation and allowing it to claim first place ranking in the field of plastics processing!

The aforementioned manufacturers and distributors, i.e. the exhibitors, see things in the same way, and they not only want to present their companies at Fakuma in trade fair booths of all sizes, but rather at the so-called exhibitor forum as well. The forum provides exhibitors with the opportunity of recommending themselves to users as competent partners by means of an overall company presentation or a technical presentation. Well over 1000 expert visitors attended the presentations held at the Fakuma exhibitor forum in 2012 and were able to profit from added value in the form of information and immediately usable knowledge obtained through direct contact with qualified experts.

As a logical consequence the exhibitor forum will take place again at the 23rd Fakuma, and will deal with current issues such as material efficiency and intensive plastics recycling, as well as modern lightweight construction and future oriented topics including sustainable plastic materials, plastic parts with functional surfaces based on nano-coatings and, last but not least, innovative processing methods. By then it will become apparent whether or not bioplastics will really take off, whether or not plastics will gain a foothold in solar and photovoltaic technology, and whether or not fibrous composite or hybrid materials will be used in wide-ranging industrial lightweight construction applications – i.e. not only in aircraft manufacturing and motor sport.
